Vennagram #4: Saint Nicolas vs. Santa Claus

Okay, I know it's about 7 months before Christmas and its very random to tackle this, but screw it. It's my blog.

Once every year, a special holiday tradition is relived to lift up the holiday spirit. A man with a white beard wearing a red coat, who gives presents to the good children and coal to bad ones. Yes, is the traditional Santa Claus popularize by the media throughout the years. But it also makes me curious of the real Santa Claus, St. Nicolas of Myra, the one of the inspirations for this icon. The Bishop who also gave things to the poor and was also love by many.

Well to dedicate this early Christmas topic, I'll compare these two people.

Saint Nicolas (or Nikolaos), Greek Bishop of Myra (which is part of modern-day Turkey), lived during the 4th-century who was  known for helping the poor and giving gifts secretly to them.

Santa Claus, on the other hand, is a Christmas figure that has said to bring gifts on Christmas Eve to the homes of the good children. He was said to derived from the Dutch figure of Sinterklaas and to historical St. Nicolas of Myra.

Let's see the similarities:

Both are secret gift-givers and very generous.	He has said to give three girls a bag of coins for each of them	He delivers gifts around the world.
Both are love children.	He's the patron saint of children.	He always delivers these to children.
Both are famous icons of Christmas...	...by his urban legends possibly  inspires by real life.	...popularizes by poem "A Visit From St. Nicholas"
Both are depicted as old men wearing red...	...in Bishop attire.	...coat with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and black leather belt and boots.
Both were very special people who...	...performed miracles even after his death.	...had magical powers and had help with magical creatures.

Aside from Jesus, the many celebrator of this occasion, they remind us of the joys of the season. They, and many people, inspire children and adults alike every year with the stories of generosity and hope. And why I acknowledge this Christmas when I could express this all year around.

Vennagram #3: Just the Way You Are (Bruno Mars vs Billy Joel)

There's an old old saying that is nearly forgotten, "Be yourself" and "Don't ever change." And these songs help us remind us these, specially to someone we love. And that's why I choose this topic for today. These two songs have a way with how to convince a girl to be herself. But who has the better approach to this. Let's find out.

In Bruno Mars's Version, the guy complements the girl that she is beautiful to him. But she doesn't believe him. So he tells she really beautiful and ask her not to change the way her looks.

In Billy Joel's Version, the girl the singer is referring to wants to change her looks to please her lover probably because she thinks he doesn't love her anyone. But the guy tells her that no matter how much she change, he will always take her by being herself.

Now let's contrast:

Both are a relationship to the girl.	He is somewhat flirting with her.	He has a deeper relationship with her.
Both are dedicated to the girl.	He will always stay be her side to cuddle her.	He would leave her in a bad situation.
They are both convincing the girl to not change...	...for she is already beautuful to him.	...for he will still take her as she is.
A notable instrument can be heard.	Piano	Saxophone

To me, I think I like the Billy Joel's Version better for the reason that it represents a strong relation between the two couple (to be together for better or for worst), which make it more romantic to me. The Bruno Mars's Version is okay too but it's better to sing this when you're dating a girl and you want to flatter her. Some wise, the Billy Joel's Version could be sang to you're fiance or to your wife because of its deeper meaning.

Vennagram #2 : Someone Like You (Adele vs Eric Clapton)

Here are two well known songs of the same title that I want  to talk about. The reason  I choose these two different songs  by these two people is because of the way they interpret the title and to who they refer it too. I also know these two song  by heart. Let’s begin.

In Adele’s Version, the person receives the news that  her former lover has been married. As she wishes  him good  luck, she will find someone like him to probably love her back.

In Eric Clapton’s  Version,  the person used to live a very rough life until  he met  someone who is probably  help him in times of trouble. This person could be his dear friend or his loved one.

A notable instrument can be heard.	Piano	Electric Guitar
This "someone" change their life.	He once her and broken her heart.	He/she inspire him to change his attitude.
It's could be a love song...	...about heart-break and moving on.	...about be an inspiration to that person.
Both are about moving to a next chapter of their life...	...to find probably love her back like her former lover	...and live on a good life.

These two interpretations are well sang and well written and I could recommend anyone to hear it.

Vennagram #1: 5 second movies vs. 5 second films

Hello and welcome to the first blog of Vennagram, where I compare and contrast two similar concepts in media. And this in topic, I want to investigate a two internet series that sounds so similar and yet so slightly different upon closer inspection. So today I gave you, 5 second movies vs. 5 second films.

Okay, is it me or does in feel like we’re stuck between a rock and a hard place? Look, before you let your pitch forks, troll them, and hack them, hear me out. It has been a curiosity for me whether the naming was a coincidence or just inspired by them. So take a good look between the two before you judge for yourself.

5 second movies are a web series that features clips of movies, cut and edited, to 5 seconds. 

5 second films, on the other hand, are another web series that features skits and films that are filmed in 5 seconds.

Now let's look at the different between the two:

But to be fair, I think both of these pretty good. Their minimalism helps bring the jokes better and their short time frame can be enjoyed even by the busiest of people. I recommend you should check them out.
